We are giddy to share Morocco with you! This country is a place that we have wanted to take you since we founded this program almost four years ago. It is located in Northern Africa and is known for its incredibly diverse landscape, bustling markets, and the generous hospitality of the local people.
The rich Moroccan culture is a beautiful mix of Berber, Arab, and French history and is heavily influenced by their sincere devotion to their religion, Islam, with 99% of the people being Muslim.
While in Morocco we will trek into the Sahara desert on camels and stay overnight to admire the beauty of the starry desert nights. We’ll explore local souks and learn how the famous Moroccan pottery, rugs, tiles, leather, and other goods are made. We’ll take cooking classes and do food tours, relax on the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea, and spend a day hiking in the Atlas Mountains.
We’ll visit ancient and ornate mosques and sit with locals to learn more about Islam and how it influences their everyday lives. We’ll also have the chance to worship with the local members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sundays and begin and end each day with personal scripture study and gospel-centered group devotionals.
We are still working on the final touches of this project. We’ll let you know as soon as it is set up and ready to go!
